I've never been more honored, excited or nervous to shoot something. It had to be perfect for these two.
She had no idea how long he'd been planning this or that he asked me to be there to capture such a defining moment.
Patrick and Torey, I'm so excited for you two!
I have nothing clever to say, other than I've tried to write something 3 times and deleted them all.
Perfect location + The Perfect couple + Amazing Fall weather = Epic Shoot.
I've had this location in my pocket for a while and it's only the second time I've used it. It had to be the right couple to take here and Dan & Kimberely were it. I'm so happy with what transpired in front of my lens.
Here's what Kimberely had to say about their experience:
"Tess did an amazing job for my husband and I! We've been together for 10 years and she really captured the love and respect we have for each other. It was also a really fun photo shoot because we did a lot of different poses but it felt very natural and wasn't forced either. She got our pics back to us quickly and they are so beautiful. LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Engagement Season is upon us and I would LOVE to be the one you choose to document your love.

It's Monday. It's officially Fall. And it's my last set of Guatemala photos. Tis bittersweet.
big brown eyes
night time wishes
Rain like you've never experienced.
Heat like you've never felt.
The Luck Dragon dog and Jurassic Park adventures.
It's been just about two weeks since I've been home from Guatemala and as I drink my coffee and sit in the quiet I think I'm finally feeling....well, I don't know exactly how to put it. I'm feeling a quiet sadness and longing for the peace of such a chaotic place.
Sounds strange I know, but unless you've been on a trip like this, it's not something you'll understand.
I hit the ground running once we landed and today, I've finally had a chance to stop and think. Actually, if I'm being honest, it started late last night. I was looking through some of the photos that I've finished and there is one that just really spoke to me. I could almost hear the water hitting the shore and the birds in the trees. Peace. I felt at complete peace in that spot.
I love this place and these people so much. They make my heart happy. And something I realized while down there is that, even though I've spent less than 40 days with them in 4 years, there is such a familiarity and love. It's like we've never been apart and we pick up where we left off. That is such a unique thing to have in general with people in your own city, let alone a whole other country.
I'm really excited to share my experience with you through my photos. This post in particular is of the first couple of days there. We get to have a tourist day and play kiddos at one of the schools there.
What can I say about these two GirlBosses? I just love them and I believe in everything that they are doing. They have an understanding about makeup and about how to bring out the best in a woman's features that go above and beyond anyone else I know.
Besides being legit at their craft, these ladies are balls to the wall to make an awesome business and they are so inspiring. They are living their dream and putting in the work to do it. I'm super proud of them.
I will always be a fan of someone who follows their heart and makes their dreams come true. If you're looking for a makeup artist, you need to hire these two. Check out their site and just do it! You won't regret hiring them!
Also, as a side note:
I'm super passionate about creative small businesses and I want to do what I can to show support. I'm now offering a special package just for them. So if you're in need of high quality photos for your biz, hit me up and let's chat!
I'll keep this short and sweet because I want you to look at the photos and immerse yourself in their gloriousness of my favorite frames from this super sweet wedding.
Happy Monday y'all
"Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire."
I LOVE in home sessions! Whether it's just a couple or an entire herd of a family.
Everyone is much more comfortable and there's something so special about the everyday life that I think we miss while we're busy living.
It's even more magical when my clients just let me immerse myself into their world and let me do my thing. That's the best.
I legit don't have words for this shoot. I've been trying to come up with the perfect thing to say and I really believe the photos just speak for themselves. However, I have to give a HUGE shoutout to everyone who helped make this happen. I'm still so blown away by it all and I'm obsessed with the photos. It was magical.
Living in Eastern Washington, when it's wedding season, about 95% of the time there is a field and a barn involved, which isn't bad. But Spokane DOES have an urban feel to it and can even be classy. You don't have to do the barn and the wheat field...you can do the sleek and the industrial and have a killer time doing it.
I'm a big advocate for local creative business owners and I knew exactly who I wanted to be a part of this and thanks to Overbluff, I met two incredible wedding stylists! And to spare you from reading too much longer, here's everyone that blew my mind and went above and beyond. Make sure to go and follow them on their social media outlets and of course, hire them. You won't be disappointed!

Ohhhhhhh man! I'm SO excited about this session. I've been wanting to do this for a while and Joe & Kate were the perfect couple to do this with.
So what is a Love Session? It's a very simple and calm session in bed. Yup. In bed. But it's not what you think. It's an expression of your quiet moments. Of the simple touches and looks.
If you're thinking about doing this, you should. Email me and let's chat about it!
Asking for money is never easy.
Asking for money to go on a trip is not easy.
And asking for money to go on a trip for the 4th year in a row is uncomfortable beyond measure.
Guatemala 2016 is just a few months away (8/21-8/29) and I can honestly say that I have been putting off writing this letter more than I did the first year I went. I don’t want to come across as annoying or ungrateful or spoiled or deserving. And I REALLY don’t want this to be a typical “mission trip, please help me get to where I’m going” letter.
I have so many stories of how Guatemala has impacted me and what we have done in the last 3 years of going, but I really just want to get to the point because you already know what I’m asking.
I want to ask you to partner with me by supporting my team and I get too Guatemala. We can’t do it without your support. That could be donating financially, donating clothes/textiles for our drive that is coming up or donating gently used items for the garage sale that I will be having on June 4th.
Partner with me in taking a step of faith. I know I say that every time, but by showing your support you will be helping me get to work. Not only by helping in the clinics, but by sending me to provide a specific service for the La Mision team. They use the photos I take to help bring awareness to the work that they are doing throughout the year and it blesses me so much to be able to do that for them.
Every year I am blown away by everyone who supports me. Not just in the financial way, but by the little things. Words of encouragement and asking me about the trip in general. It’s an amazing experience and I wish I could explain it in a way that would do it justice.
Please take your time in considering your support. Pray about it and please, please, please ask questions if you have them.
You can give online here. Just follow the prompts, click on "Guatemala Missions" and then add my name in the "Notes" section. If you have trouble at all, just let me know and I can help.
*Per IRS Pub 526, charitable donations are non-refundable. If there is a surplus for the project and/or if any team member is unable to make the trip, funds donated for this project will be used to further equip the Eastpoint Missions Team and/or Fundación La Misión with supplies, equipment and resources needed to continue the mission to build relationships and reach people for Jesus.
I know, it's been a while and I have a lot to blog.
But for now, this is more than enough.
The meeting of creative minds can be explosive and I'm sitting here trying to come up with the words that will do this collaboration justice.
Kristina, the creative genius behind this awesome shoot, is the book nerd behind Beauty and Heartbreak and is also one of the talented makeup artists at Maud. This shoot was inspired by one of her recent reads, A Court of Thorns and Roses. She wanted to create the main character and what started out as just a simple studio shoot, turned into a "nah, we've got to take this outside" shoot.
We brought in one of my favorite models to shoot, Haley and on a recent meeting of a new up and coming Spokane florist, Desiree, from Briar and Bloom.
Desiree went above and beyond what we envisioned. Seriously, this girl is legit. We threw her a couple of ideas and then just let her have creative freedom. The crown was perfect and not to mention she was a great reflector holder.
I love natural light so much because it's unpredictable and ever changing. The light was all over the place and I loved utilizing what we were given. I don't usually use a reflector either, but gold was a big part of our inspiration and wanted to throw some warm tones in there.
We knew we needed to document this whole process, so not only do you get to see the final product, but a behind the scenes video!
Ahh....love is in the air and it's the about to be wedding season.
When client's give me the freedom to just create, magical things happen for all of us. Especially if they're willing to just wander around downtown.
Mike & Haley's wedding is going to be off the charts and I'm so excited to be a part of it. It's a huge privilege.
